Our story:
Our foundation is more than a healthcare initiative, it is a tribute to our grandmother, Cumanda Hortencia Paucar, the heart and soul of our family’s passion for medicine.
As the first healthcare worker in our family, she inspired a legacy that continues to this day! From a young age, she would bring her youngest son, now Dr. Angel Bayas, to the hospital, where he was exposed to the world of medicine early on. By the age of 13, he was following her up and down the emergency room, an experience that ignited his passion for pursuing a career in medicine.
It was not only the intensity of the hospital environment that inspired him, but also the compassion and kindness that he saw his mother show to every patient. Watching her care for those in need, with warmth, empathy, and a smile that brought comfort to others, left a lasting impact on him.
Dr. Bayas went on to earn his medical degree from the Universidad Central de Ecuador and is now a licensed physician in both Ecuador and Boca Raton, Florida, continuing the legacy his mother began.
Today, Abuelita Cumi’s legacy lives on through us, her grandchildren! As each of us follow our respective path toward a future in medicine. Through this foundation, we honor her life by providing free, compassionate neurological care, delivered with the same warmth, dignity, and family-centered love she instilled in us.
As she always said, we must approach each patient with a “sonrisa colinos”, a bright, genuine smile, to make them feel safe, seen, and cared for.
This mission is our way of sharing her legacy with our patients: treating them like family and ensuring that no one is denied care, regardless of their circumstances.
Nuestra fundación es más que una iniciativa de salud, es un homenaje a nuestra abuelita, Cumanda Hortencia Paucar, Abuelita Cumi, el corazón y alma de la pasión de nuestra familia por la medicina.
Como la primera trabajadora de la salud en nuestra familia, ella inspiró un legado que continúa hasta hoy. Desde muy temprana edad, llevaba a su hijo menor, hoy el Dr. Ángel Bayas, al hospital, donde tuvo una exposición temprana al mundo de la medicina. A los 13 años, ya la acompañaba en la sala de emergencias, una experiencia que encendió en él la pasión por seguir una carrera en medicina.
No fue solo la intensidad del ambiente hospitalario lo que lo inspiró, sino también la compasión y bondad con la que ella trataba a cada paciente. Ver cómo cuidaba a quienes más lo necesitaban, con calidez, empatía y una sonrisa que brindaba consuelo, dejó una huella profunda en él.
Nuestra Historia:
El Dr. Bayas obtuvo su título de médico en la Universidad Central de Ecuador y actualmente da atencion neurologica en Boca Ratón, Florida, continuando el legado que su madre inició.
Hoy, el legado de la Abuelita Cumi vive en nosotros, sus nietos! Mientras cada uno sigue su propio camino hacia la medicina. A través de esta fundación, honramos su vida brindando atención neurológica gratuita y compasiva, con la misma calidez, dignidad y amor centrado en la familia que ella nos enseñó.
Como ella siempre decía, debemos entrar al cuarto de cada paciente con una sonrisa colinos! Para que nuestros pacientes se sientan seguros, vistos y cuidados.
Esta misión es nuestra forma de compartir su legado con nuestros pacientes: tratarlos como familia y asegurar que nadie sea privado de atención, sin importar sus circunstancias.
